Introduction

This web site uses the NavWinMVP technology to drive some simple web based applications. The applications are all running JavaScript. They use various HTML 5 concepts which means you will need to be running the latest versions of the Browsers to use them.

For running very quickly on the iPad, iPod or iPhone you should be using the operating system version 4.3 which has a very fast JavaScript engine.

The web apps that are available on this web site all run in two modes. In the first mode, called ‘Local Storage’ and the second is called ‘server storage’. Local storage means your data is stored directly on your computer. This is a free service and you do not need to log in to use it. The disadvantage of this is that each computer has its own variation of the data.

If you opt to use server storage, where there is a small annual fee charged, then you will need to log in to use the web apps, but your data will be the same regardless of where you log in from.

The web apps only run in HTTPS mode so you can ensure your data is safe.

If this web site proves popular, the server fee will contribute to an improved security model for the data.

Navigating in the web apps

The web apps use a common navigation process which is mainly based around buttons (although there are occasionally standard hyper-link options also). The buttons will have an arrow icon which indicate in which direction they will take you. A forward arrow à means that you will be taken to a new web link (the web history will be appended to). A backwards arrow ß means you will be taken back one place in history. No arrow means the current screen will be updated and the web history will not change.
